I'd not picked up a camera for weeks. It happens, and can be a difficult phase through which to pass. But pass through I have, and here are some images for your purusal.

Struggling into Spring
It's been 4 years since the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, and though we were relatively unaffected by the ordeal, it's something we will never forget.

If you were to think of "Japan", there's a high chance that you'd conjure up images of "red gates" in mountains, after you've thought about sushi, cartoon characters, neon lights, underwear vending machines, men in suits, business cards, bowing, sumo, blowfish... you get the idea.

The autumn colours have all but disappeared from central Tokyo, though some remains aloft. Most leaves have long since fallen, and the weather's turned much colder this week. It really feels as though winter is coming.
And so, with that in mind, it was nice to stumble upon such a rare and distinctive looking out-house in one of the suburbs here in Tokyo. A welcome splash of colour amongst the grey-blue concrete of the neighbourhood.
Upon Reflection
Sometime last week, though I can't remember when, the clouds briefly parted and a few rays of sunlight burst through the gap.
I ventured out with my NEX-7 and Canon FD 50mm lens, to the pond next to my office building. Some of the trees have started their descent into fall colours already.
It had been raining not long before, an there remained a significant amount of water on the leaves of the numerous trees surrounding the lake. I didn't have to wait long to take the below photograph, though perhaps upon reflection I should have waited for another drop, more central to the frame.
Behind closed doors
This striking red building really stood out down the backstreets of Bunkyo, as I walked to meet Charlotte in Akihabara (click the photo for fullscreen). If it weren't for the メヂィアミクス研究所 laminated sign above the postbox, one may not expect this photo to have been taken in Japan. Incidentally, メヂィアミクス研究所 reads as "media mix laboratory" which is the name of this cute little company. When framing this shot, I didn't really care what this building was, I just wanted the photo. Now I can't help but wonder what's inside, behind closed doors.
